If there is anything that Hollywood celebs are well acquainted with, it is the finer things in life. They indulge in extravagant vacations, homes, foods and recreation. With all of the extra cash they have, many celebs find expensive hobbies, like collecting fine art. A home can become a personalized kingdom once you adorn it with the artistic creations you find value and meaning in. Included here are a few celebrities who enjoy fine art and turned their homes into veritable live-in galleries.
Leonardo DiCaprio
While he still may not have an Oscar to put in his home, DiCaprio is growing his own fine art collection. Attending art auctions and fairs from New York to Miami, DiCaprio is constantly on the hunt for the latest and greatest. With pieces in his collection from Salvador Dali, Takashi Murakami, Todd Schorr and Oscar Murillo, DiCaprio clearly has a diverse eye. In 2013, he organized and ran an art auction that raised money for environmental causes.
David and Victoria Beckham
While this power couple certainly has a reputation for fashion, they have turned their eyes on fine art as well. With a collection worth over $30 million euros, the Beckhams have put their love-themed pieces in their homes from LA to Milan. Their collection currently contains pieces from Damien Hirst, Banksy, Sam Taylor Wood and Tracey Emin.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
While Jolie is a charity-activist, Pitt enjoys indulging in the finer things of life more often, like building his $18 million dollar art collection. Their primary passion is contemporary art and design, but Pitt also prioritizes art-deco furniture. Their collection encompasses pieces by Banksy, Neo Rauch, and Marcel Dzama.
Chris Martin
Lead singer of Coldplay, Martin has developed a passion for fine art during his time in the limelight. Narrowly outbidding Charlize Theron over a Banksy creation called Red Balloon, Martin gifted the piece of art to his girlfriend, Gwyneth. Evidently, the $650,000 artistic representation of love was not enough of a substitute for the real stuff and their union dissolved shortly thereafter.
Tobey Maguire
Apparently all of that swinging around skylines gave Spiderman the time to view some fine art and develop his own passion. Maguire collects fine art and has been seen at many New York auctions bidding on prominent masterpieces. Maguire currently has pieces in his collection from Kaz Oshiro and Mark Rylen.
Moby
Notable musician, Moby has generated quite a unique following for himself. Living in a castle in Hollywood hills, Moby decorates with eclectic pieces ranging from vintage globes to his personal photos. The living room of his house is filled with pieces by Shepard Fairey, Mark Ryden, David Lynch and JR. Moby also has sketches created by Simpson’s creator, Matt Groening and Lilo & Stitch co-writer and director, Dean DeBlois.
