A lawyer is one of those careers that people suggest you get after because you’ll be certain to make good money, and you’ll always be in for a job. One such job that doesn’t have that security is an actor. The statistics that show how many actors actually find work is pretty grim to look at. It obviously depends on where the actor lives and what industry they’re acting in, but there are so many factors that decided whether or not an actor will land a job.
Often it has little to do with their actual talent level and is heavily based on who the actor knows or what they look like, and if they physically fit the characteristics defined by the casting agents and producers of television and film. With this being said, it’s often a case of look luck, persistence and or connections that get the big time actors in Hollywood where they are.
Though many actors are still left unemployed at the end of a long audition day, at least they get to pretend like they have a job that makes them look like they’re making good money. Here are some of the most famous lawyers found on Hollywood’s silver screen.
Perry Mason
Perry Mason is a famous TV series about a defense attorney that ran from 1957-1966. Throughout the series, Mason defends a host of clients who have been wrongly accused. He evidently wins every case. Sounds a little bit like the popular TV show House doesn’t it? If you lose a case, you might as well just quit right now because you’re obviously not good enough at your job to make a television show.
Law and Order
The real McCoy was John McCoy on the popular TV show Law and Order. The actor playing McCoy was Sam Waterston, who is apparently the second longest tenured actor/character on a show. He was such a popular character in the show that he is regarded as a “Living Landmark”. That’s quite a reputation to live up to. With all that time pretending to be a lawyer, maybe he could pull it off in real life.
Frank Galvin
Though much of the population living today is probably not familiar with this name as much as they are with John McCoy, they will recognize the actor who played this famous lawyer. His name is Paul Newman, and the movie was The Verdict. It was a 1982 drama set in the courtroom about a lawyer who is having career trouble and decides to take on a medical malpractice case. The movie experienced great success and remains to be one of the most famous lawyer movies of all time.
You might not ever get the chance to ask for legal advice from these famous lawyers, but you can most definitely watch their shows time after time and glean all the information you can. Who knows how legitimate the writing is in regards to legal advice, but they sure are entertaining.
