The idea of Hollywood, the idea of celebrity status, the idea of luxury and riches – the idea is not always so realistic. But, with a little bit of a sense of humor and a little bit of planning, you can get creative and travel like a star, and make the most out of injecting a little bit of fun into what might have been just another generic vacation. This type of approach might not be for everyone, but for those of you who see the world a little bit more sideways than your neighbors, give the following thought process a go.
Pick Your Destination
Want to travel like a star? Start by picking your destination. Where would the stars travel, and why? There are plenty of terrific travel lists, and you should put yourself in the mind of your favorite celebrity. Where would they go? Would it be rustic? Urban? Would it be to a certain place in a certain season? Summer in the Bahamas. Winter in Massachusetts. Think like a rock star, ponder like a diva, and find out what comes from the recesses of your mind. You may unexpectedly come across the Perfect Place.
Pick Your Theme
Now it’s time to take the training wheels off. Want to pick an entertaining theme for a vacation? It could come from a movie, or perhaps a book. You could go on a “Fear and Loathing” journey. Maybe take some notes on “The Walking Dead” and pack a bug out bag and go camping. If you’re going to a music-oriented destination, bring your Elvis suit or your Lady Gaga meat dress. These may be extreme and impractical examples, but the point is to get you thinking out of your comfort zone so that you can get back in it with the actual planning of the trip. You can effectively imagine the memories ahead of time, which will give you some motivation.
Pick Your Group
Who do you want to travel like a star with? Best friend? Spouse? Someone you secretly admire? Who will be in your entourage? And no, they aren’t really your entourage. They are more like your partners in crime. If you have already found people willing to go in with you on a theme, they are your traveling buddies.
Once you have made your decisions where you are going, what your headspace is, and who you’re going with, make first class arrangements for travel. 1st class air, rented limo, president’s luxury suite. If you want to travel like a star, do it! Splurge. Find out what it feels like to be in that spot. Lots of celebrities live like this all the time. You’re only doing it for a bit, just to get a taste of the good life, but without having to deal with the stresses that Hollywood puts on their kings and queens. Everybody wins!
