Aside from movies, TV appearances and red carpet events, many celebrities have been joining the fragrance movement and their legions of fans are gladly enjoying the scents. Below are our favourite celebrity fragrances for women in 2012.
SJP NYC by Sarah Jessica Parker
Party in a bottle. That’s what actress Sarah Jessica Parker intended for SJP NYC, her latest fragrance. And yet, when people smell it, they think of different things. Some think of spring or summer, while others are reminded of fruits (strawberries, in particular). That’s because SJP NYC comes with top notes of strawberries, osmanthus and mandarin orange. It also has heart notes of honeysuckle, gardenia and rose; and base notes of rum, musk, vanilla and sandalwood.
Truth or Dare by Madonna
Madonna Louise Ciccone, otherwise known as Madonna, has just released Truth or Dare, a scent inspired by her mother. The top notes are tuberose, neroli and gardenia; its heart notes are lily, benzoin and jasmine; and its base notes are vanilla, amber and musk. The result is a mysterious fragrance with serious staying power.
Nicole by Nicole Richie
Like Madonna, Nicole Richie came up with a fragrance inspired by her mother. Nicole’s self-titled scent is multi-layered and complex, with top notes of orange and blackberry; heart notes of amber, papyrus, lily of the valley and Moroccan rose; and base notes of cashmere wood, vanilla absolute, sandalwood and patchouli. The scent provides a hint of citrus and balanced by an earthy, spicy aroma.
Glowing by Jennifer Lopez
Glowing, the latest fragrance from Latin superstar Jennifer Lopez is an evolution of Glow, her first perfume, which was released back in 2002. Like Glow, the new scent smells fresh and clean, but is still quite a different experience. Glowing is woodsy, thanks to its base notes of vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood, musk, vanilla and amber; and its cypress top note, which also comes with hints of bergamot and cypress.
Pulse by Beyoncé
Pulse, the latest fragrance from singer Beyoncé, is a unique blend of vanilla, citrus, floral, woodsy and powdery scents. The initial whiff gives off top notes of bergamot, curacao and a hint of pear blossom; it would eventually give way to heart notes of peony, orchid and jasmine; and finally settle into woodsy base notes of vanilla and musk, which smell like powder. Similar to Beyoncé, there’s nothing like Pulse.
Pink Friday by Nicki Minaj
One look at Pink Friday and you’ll know it’s from rapper Nicki Minaj. And interestingly, you’ll think the same thing once you smell it. Pink Friday is a fresh, clean scent that provides top notes of citrusy mandarin, star fruit and blackberry; heart notes of star jasmine and lotus; and base notes of caramel, pear, vanilla and musk for that pleasantly sweet scent.
Meow by Katy Perry
You know what’s purr-fect? Katy Perry’s new fragrance Purr, which smells terrific from top to base notes. The initial whiff will give you scents of apple, peach, gardenia and bamboo; its heart notes yield jasmine, rose and freesia; while the base notes give off musk, amber, sandalwood, orchid and vanilla. Best of all, the fragrance stays on for at least eight hours. Meow indeed!
Fame by Lady Gaga
The newly launched Fame is like a bottled version of performer/force of nature Lady Gaga. From the black, egg-like bottle held by a golden claw to the fragrance’s use of belladonna, everything about Fame screams distinct. The perfume also uses scents such as orchid, apricot, honey, jasmine sambac, incense and saffron.
